OUR STORY: Xpat, INc.
Our journey started in the spring of 2020 with the launch of our inaugural brand, Xpat Chats, a live series that highlights the stories and experiences of the Black community that lives abroad. In December 2020 we launched The Xpat App, a social impact platform designed to connect the Black community to international opportunities, networks, and culturally relevant resources. As the first of its kind within the app arena, The Xpat App caters to the unique needs and interests of the Black community abroad as well as those who aspire to live abroad. In December 2023, we announced the latest addition to our platform, Xpat AI, our custom GPT artificial intelligence (AI) tool created to provide more personalized support to the Xpat community.
Shar Wynter

Shar Wynter is the founder and CEO of Xpat, Inc. and creator of The Xpat App.
She is on a mission to improve the social mobility and overall wellbeing of her community by providing exposure and access to experiences, networks, and opportunities abroad. As the child of immigrant parents, her mission has been heavily influenced by her humble upbringings in Detroit and visits to her family’s homeland of Jamaica. These experiences planted the seed for her travels to over 50 countries and expat experiences in the UK and Portugal, which she now calls home. Before moving to Portugal, the Spelman grad was a Big 4 consultant for over 10 years, primarily working with financial services clients.
In 2019, Shar made the bold move to quit her job and take a career break which took her on the most liberating journey of her life. It was during her career break that Xpat Chats and the Xpat App was born. Since launching Xpat in 2020, the company has organically grown to thousands of members and garnered global recognition, through features in The New York Times, USA Today, CNBC, Ebony Magazine, Yahoo, and Travel Noire.
Equipped with insights from her global experience, Shar also serves as an Executive Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Advisor, supporting, leading, and advocating for DEI efforts across the globe. Her portfolio of clients ranges from pre-seed startups to Fortune 500 companies.
In both her capacity as an entrepreneur and as a DEI advisor, Shar is committed to advancing racial equity, social advocacy, and community empowerment for underrepresented and underserved communities across the globe.
